$1.5 Million Settlement Reached for Death of 82-Year Old Man

The Estate of an 82-year-old Montana man killed on the Boerman Expressway in Lansing, Illinois will collect $1.5 million pursuant to a settlement reached Friday afternoon. The case settled after it had been sent to Judge Richard Berland of the Circuit Court of Cook County to begin trial.

James Reineking was killed while a passenger in a car driven by his longtime friend, Hugh Willson. The two were traveling through Chicago on their way to a Mason's meeting in Grand Rapids, Michigan, when a collision occurred between Willson's car and a car-carrying truck driven by Samuel Willis for E. and L. Transport Company of Wayne, Michigan. Each driver claimed the other had changed lanes inappropriately. After the impact, the vehicle Reineking was in struck a concrete abutment.

Reineking, a retired gunshop owner, left behind a wife of 49 years and four adult sons.
