Our Community
In addition to being renowned for our achievements in the courtroom, we are also renowned for - and proud of - our philanthropic contributions to the community, which have been recognized by a number of organizations.
The firm actively promotes and contributes to charities and nonprofit organizations. It has also established and funded scholarships, fellowships and endowments at local and national mentoring programs, high schools, and universities, including all six Chicago law schools. Our partners, associates and staff "give back" by serving on Boards, raising funds, tutoring, and lending a hand wherever needed for a variety of charities and nonprofit organizations, including Misericordia, Center for Disability and Elder Law, Access Living, Mercy Home for Boys and Girls, the Legal Assistance Foundation of Metropolitan Chicago, and Catholic Charities. In 2006, we established a pro bono department, which helps the indigent and elderly with legal matters that affect their day-to-day quality of life.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Corboy & Demetrio worked with the Greater Chicago Food Depository to create a C&D Virtual Food Drive to help the thousands of Cook County residents who have been hit hardest by the pandemic. The firm’s food drive runs through the end of 2020 and can be found here.
Many not-for-profits are suffering economically as traditional methods of fundraising have been shattered since COVID-19 struck our communities. That includes Misericordia, Heart of Mercy, which Corboy & Demetrio has supported for many years.
Our CFO Marcy Twardak, who would have celebrated hosting her 10th annual holiday shopping fundraiser on Misericordia’s Chicago campus, was determined to find other ways to raise the much-needed funds. In December 2020, she is personally holding her first Misericordia Virtual Holiday Shopping night in order to help Misericordia’s Sweet Shop in Glenview, which is open to the public and loaded with gifts and bakery items.
You can order gifts from the Sweet Shoppe using this fillable form:

In addition, Marcy is inspiring others to hold virtual shopping parties of their own. Her generosity is contagious and doesn’t stop there.
Corboy & Demetrio will donate $10 to Misericordia for each person who buys more merchandise at the store after the virtual party. When checking out, just tell them, “Marcy sent me!” and a donation will be made. The drive runs through Christmas Day.
