$1.5 Million Settlement for Family of Mother Killed in I-90 Crash
Corboy & Demetrio obtained a settlement of $1,579,200.00 against a leasing company and a driver in the death of a 56-year-old woman. The woman was en route to sing at an ordination mass at Rockford Cathedral and was killed when the van she was in was struck by a leased car driven by a 19 year old on Interstate 90. Daimler Chrysler argued that a New York statute, which made the leasing company liable for the negligent driving of a leasee, was not applicable but the Judge ruled against Daimler. He ruled that the statute was applicable even though the car was received in Madison, Wisconsin and never driven in New York.
