$1.25 Million Settlement for Injured Pedestrian in Lake County, IL

Corboy & Demetrio has obtained a settlement of $1.25 million on behalf of a 63-year-old pedestrian who was struck by a vehicle in a store parking lot in Lake Zurich, Illinois and suffered injuries to her elbow and head.

On October 28, 2021, the plaintiff, Erin Parker, was walking in the parking lot of Jewel Foods at 345 S. Rand Road and was heading to the store’s entrance when the defendant driver, Jeffrey C. Valentino, who was turning into the parking lot, struck her, flinging her body onto the hood of his vehicle and then to the ground when he came to a stop.  She suffered a broken elbow, a concussion, and cuts and bruises, as a result.

The lawsuit, which was filed on Feb. 18, 2023, in Lake County Circuit Court, alleged Valentino was negligent when he operated a motor vehicle without keeping proper lookout and failed to slow down, brake and yield the right-of-way to Ms. Parker.

Ms. Parker was represented by Corboy & Demetrio Attorney Michael D. Ditore.

Case Info:  22LA00000042, Parker v. Jeffrey C. Valentino, filed in Lake Co. settled on Sept 13, 2023.
