03.04.2003

The insurance company for a local hospital's physician's group agreed to pay a 19-year-old Kankakee girl $7.5 million after an eight-hour mediation session conducted before former Chief Judge of the Circuit Court of Cook County, Donald P. O’Connell. The case was set to commence trial on March 4, 2003.

The plaintiff was 13-years-old at the time she suffered a laceration to her spinal cord during surgery at a local hospital, rendering her an incomplete paraplegic.
