Corboy & Demetrio Hosts St. Nicholas School Mock Trial Team and Teachers
Throughout the school year, Corboy & Demetrio Partner Conrad Nowak and Associate Attorney Collin Gill served as coaches of St. Nicholas Cathedral School’s 7th Grade Mock Trial team. To celebrate the conclusion of their first season, which was a tremendous success, the 16 students and their teachers visited Corboy & Demetrio, where the group learned more about what real trial lawyers do and the paths that led them to our law firm.
St. Nicholas Cathedral School is a Catholic grade school in Chicago’s Ukranian Village, which is part of The Big Shoulders Fund network of schools. Big Shoulders was created in 1986 to provide support to Catholic schools in the Chicago area through scholarship support, leadership development programs, and academic and professional development programs. Corboy & Demetrio supports the Big Shoulders Fund in many ways, including the volunteer work of its lawyers in its Mock Trial program.

The students’ hard work during the year culminated in a final mock trial competition recently in a Chicago courtroom, where one St. Nicholas team member impressed practicing attorneys and judges with an outstanding performance, which received a standing ovation.
During the team’s visit to Corboy & Demetrio, students learned more about the practice of law from Equity Partner Bill Gibbs, Conrad, and Collin, toured the office, and received a C&D bag, a small gesture of our admiration of their accomplishment.
