Governor Quinn Appoints Attorney Kirschner to Illinois Carnival-Amusement Safety Board
Daniel S. Kirschner, a trial attorney at the law firm of Corboy & Demetrio, was appointed by Governor Pat Quinn to the Illinois Carnival-Amusement Safety (CAS) Board. The appointment was effective March 26, 2010, and is pending confirmation by the Illinois Senate. The appointment brings to the CAS Board Dan’s extensive pro-consumer work on behalf of victims injured or killed in the tourism, hospitality and resort industries.
An experienced and accomplished trial lawyer, Kirschner represents plaintiffs in catastrophic personal injury and wrongful death litigation and his practice is concentrated in matters involving aviation disasters, trucking and highway collisions, railroad crossings and derailments, construction negligence, premises liability, product liability, and medical malpractice.
In 1999, the Illinois Supreme Court appointed Kirschner to a three-year term as a Commissioner on the Character and Fitness Committee of the Illinois Board of Admissions to the Bar, followed by a 2002 appointed to the Illinois Supreme Court Rules Committee.
In 2003, Kirschner was named by the Law Bulletin Publishing Company to its list of the "40 Under 40 Attorneys to Watch in Illinois." At age 31, he was the youngest of the 40 recipients. That same year, he received the Young Alumnus Award from the Chicago-Kent Law School Association and currently serves as President of the Chicago-Kent Alumni Board of Directors.
Dan is an active member of many bar associations. He is a past Co-Chair of the Young Lawyers Committee of the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association and served as an investigator for the Chicago Bar Association’s Judicial Evaluation Committee. He has organized, moderated, and lectured at numerous continuing legal education seminars for practicing attorneys.
