Corboy & Demetrio Files First Lawsuit and Protective Order in Deadly I-90 Crash
Corboy & Demetrio has filed the first lawsuit in the Circuit Court of Cook County arising out of the Interstate 90 toll road crash. The complaint and protective order were filed by Corboy & Demetrio on behalf of Nancy Knapp, the current president of the International Women Associates, whose group was returning from a day trip at Anderson Gardens in Rockford, Illinois. The crash took place approximately one mile west of the Marengo toll plaza vehicles were backed up waiting to pay tolls.
Mrs. Knapp, who was injured in the crash, has sued Frontline Transportation Company, an Elk Grove Village based company for negligent operation of a semi-tractor trailer by its driver. Along with the complaint, Corboy & Demetrio has obtained a protective order seeking to preserve and protect evidence relating to the cause of the crash and potential defendants.
Eight women were killed in the crash and sixteen other crash victims were taken to hospitals for treatment. The driver of the semi-tractor trailer was held for questioning by police, but is not thought to have been injured.
Corboy & Demetrio has handled many cases involving semi-tractor trailer operators in the past, including cases which have resulted in jury verdicts totalling over $70 million.
