$31 Million for Workers in Chemical Company Explosion and Fire
The Quantum Chemical Company in Morris, Illinois, exploded and caught fire following a leak of flammable ethylene. Corboy & Demetrio attorneys represented eight families of workers who were either seriously injured or killed in the explosion. Prior to the fire, a gas leak at the plant had been detected but a Company spokesman indicated that the plant was safe for the workers to return. Four minutes later, the explosion and fire occurred. Robert Bingle, managing partner of the firm, was involved in all aspects of the cases, which ultimately settled for a total of $31,856,352.
