$5.75 Million for Police Officer Who Had Leg Amputated

A police officer agreed to a settlement of her case against a limousine company for $5.75 million. While on duty and at approximately 12:35 a.m., a Mundelein Police Officer stopped her squad car on a four-lane highway. While stopped in the inner lane with the Mars lights activated, she exited her car in order to remove the remains of a dead animal from the road. As she was standing behind her squad car and placing the animal in the trunk, she was hit from behind and pinned between her car and the defendant’s limousine. Ultimately, her right leg had to be amputated above the knee.
