Medical Negligence

Corboy & Demetrio lawyers have represented hundreds of individuals injured or killed as the result of negligent treatment by doctors, nurses, hospitals, and other health-care individuals and facilities.

With our background of handling medical negligence cases for over 50 years, we have experience in all aspects of the practice and have the resources necessary to investigate, prepare and retain experts to represent our clients and secure for them fair and full compensation.

Our medical negligence team’s work has resulted in exceptional and record-setting verdicts and settlements for our clients. We have acquired over $3 billion in settlements and verdicts and have attained more than 500 settlements and verdicts in excess of $1 million.

Following are some examples of our work:

  • Represented by Corboy & Demetrio partners, David R. Barry, Jr., and Susan J. Schwartz, the surviving family of a 34 year-old mother, who died after giving birth because the doctor and nurse failed to properly treat her high blood pressure, was awarded $22 million - a record-setting verdict for the death of a woman in Illinois
  • The day before final arguments were to take place, named partner, Thomas A. Demetrio, obtained a $17.5 million settlement on behalf of a 33 year-old former fashion model who suffered a hemorrhagic stroke when a large aneurysm in her brain ruptured after an emergency room physician failed to diagnose a “warning leak” from the aneurysm ten days earlier
