Corboy & Demetrio Files Lawsuit against Airline in Plane Crash near Midway
Corboy & Demetrio has filed a lawsuit on behalf of the elderly couple whose home was crashed into and destroyed by a cargo plane near Midway Airport last week. The 82-year-old woman and 84-year-old man were asleep inside their bedroom when the plane crashed through their home, stopping just feet from their bed.
The negligence lawsuit names as defendant Central Airlines, Inc., which owns the plane that tore through the side of the couple’s brick home, ripping open a huge hole in their living room and then blasting through the living room wall, ripping a huge hole into their bedroom and crushing everything in its path. The plane miraculously stopped just a couple of feet from the couple.
“While thankfully the couple did not suffer any physical harm, the emotional trauma has been devastating to them,” said Matthew Jenkins of Corboy & Demetrio, the nationally recognized aviation law firm, which is representing the couple. “Hearing, seeing and feeling an airplane crashing just inches away from them has caused severe emotional distress,” Jenkins added.
Corboy & Demetrio obtained a protective order to preserve the plane; radar reports, voice recordings and other evidence relating to communications between Air Traffic Control and the pilot; and general maintenance records.
