Michelle M. Kohut joined Corboy & Demetrio in 2004 and practices in all areas of personal injury law. She has tried eight cases to verdict and has obtained numerous multi-million dollar settlements. She is very active in local and national bar associations, including the Chicago Bar Association, the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association and the Women’s Bar Association of Illinois, where she serves on the Board of Directors and is Chair of the Political Action Committee. Ms. Kohut is also on the Board of Directors for Women Everywhere, a community service project which seeks to open doors to women and children in need and to expose high school girls to challenging careers in the legal profession. In 2007, she was named one of "40 Illinois Attorneys Under Forty to Watch" by the Law Bulletin Publishing Company and was designated an Illinois Super Lawyer, Rising Star in 2008. A graduate of Loyola University Chicago School of Law, Ms. Kohut was a Judicial Law Clerk to William D. Maddux, Presiding Judge of the Law Division of the Circuit Court of Cook County, prior to joining Corboy & Demetrio.
Susan J. Schwartz joined Corboy & Demetrio following graduation from Loyola University Chicago School of Law and became a partner in 1994. Her trial practice centers on representing patients or their families in complex medical negligence personal injury and wrongful death cases. Her work has resulted in settlements and verdicts in excess of several million dollars for many clients, including those injured by medical error while receiving treatment at a hospital or clinic. Ms. Schwartz is an active member of regional and national bar associations and serves on the Board of Managers of the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association. She has lectured locally and nationally at bar seminars and continuing legal education programs on topics ranging from trial practice techniques, to trial preparation of medical negligence cases, to alternative methods of dispute resolution. She has authored several chapters on medical malpractice and is a frequent contributor to legal publications.
