As a captain in the Army's JAG Corps, Ken served four years on active duty as the Medical Claims Judge Advocate at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C.  He joined Corboy & Demetrio in late 1995 but remained in the Army Reserve.   In 2000, Ken was promoted to Major.   In 2003, he was mobilized in support of operation "Enduring Iraqi Freedom" and spent six months on active duty at Walter Reed for which he received a Meritorious Service Medal.

Ken continues his legal service to military families byorganizing and teaching continuing legal educating courses to other lawyers so that they may better understand issues military families often face.  In September 2012, Lumb was moderator of the course, Child Custody and the Military Family, which addressed issues including how military service impacts the intact family, as well as how service-related disabilities such as post-traumatic stress disorder can affect parenting and custody issues.  The course was sponsored by the Illinois State Bar Association.

The focus of Ken’s practice at Corboy & Demetrio is personal injury and medical malpractice.  Ken has obtained numerous multi-million dollar verdicts and settlements on behalf of his clients, including an $11 million verdict for a child who suffered brain damage at birth and a $10.5 million verdict for the estate of a woman who died after being improperly anesthetized for hip surgery.
