November 30, 2007

On September 27, 2007, attorneys Shawn S. Kasserman, William T. Gibbs and Daniel M. Kotin settled the firm's last remaining case stemming from the 2004 Metra Rock Island Derailment.  Corboy & Demetrio represented several passengers who were injured as a result of the derailment.

On Sunday, October 12, 2004, at approximately 4:40 p.m., a five-car Metra Rock Island train left Chicago's LaSalle Street Station en route to Joliet.  At approximately 47th street between Federal and LaSalle streets, the train was scheduled to switch from one side of the track to another at a speed of 10 miles per hour.  The switch was necessary because of track maintenance.  As the train proceeded to switch, it was traveling at 67 miles er hour.  The train derailed as a result of the excessive speed.  The derailment injured 45 of the approximately 375 passengers.
