Corboy & Demetrio Attorney Michelle Kohut Elected to Board of Directors of Prominent North Side Health Center

Corboy & Demetrio attorney Michelle Kohut was recently elected to the Board of Directors of the Heartland International Health Center (HIHC), a patient-centered, fully integrated regional health delivery system with deep roots in the community. A personal injury attorney who has obtained numerous multi-million dollar settlements, she will serve a three-year term in her new role at HIHC.

Community Involvement

Ms. Kohut joined Corboy & Demetrio in 2004 and handles cases in a wide range of areas including automobile collisions, construction negligence, premises liability and product liability. She is very active in local and national bar associations, including the Chicago Bar Association, the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association and the Women’s Bar Association of Illinois, where she serves on the Board of Directors and is Chair of the Political Action Committee. She also serves on the Board of Directors for Women Everywhere, a community service project which seeks to open doors to women and children in need and to expose high school girls to challenging careers in the legal profession.

HIHC is dedicated to improving the health of individuals in the Uptown, Edgewater, Rogers Park and Albany Park communities of Chicago. Its five Health Centers provide affordable, quality, multilingual, and culturally competent health services designed to prevent illness and promote physical, mental and social well-being. HIHC serves more than 10,000 underprivileged people annually, over 60 percent of whom do not have health insurance, with more than 45 percent living at or below the federal poverty level.
