$690,000 Record Will County Settlement for Radial Nerve Injury

January 22, 2008

On January 18, 2008, Judge Gerald R. Kinney approved a $690,000.00 settlement, the largest in Will County history for radial nerve damage, on behalf of a farmer in Oswego who lost mobility in his right hand and wrist after a surgeon cut the radial nerve during surgery. Corboy & Demetrio represented the plaintiff in the record setting case.

On July 22, 2005, the plaintiff, a farmer in Oswego, went to see Dr. Alan Bloom about a growth on his upper right arm. Dr. Bloom, a general surgeon at Kendall Pointe Surgery Center in Oswego, Illinois, removed the growth in his office. During the surgery, Dr. Bloom cut the radial nerve in the plaintiff's right arm resulting in the decreased use of his hand and wrist. The plaintiff had to undergo a second surgery by another doctor to repair the damage and restore some mobility.

The defendant, Dr. Alan Bloom, was represented by Pamela L. Gellen and Julia Molina of Lowis & Gellen.
