Philip H. Corboy Receives Honorary Doctor of Law Degree

Philip H. Corboy has received an honorary Doctor of Laws Degree from the John Marshall Law School. Corboy, who the school described as “the premiere personal injury lawyer in Chicago and a mentor to almost all of the other top personal injury lawyers in the city,” received the honorary degree at the Law School’’s commencement on Sunday, January 27, 2008 at the Sheraton Chicago Hotel and Towers.

The honorary degree was in recognition of Corboy’’s outstanding legal career and his generosity to various causes, including his underwriting of a scholarship that benefits Chicago police officers enrolled at The John Marshall Law School.

Professor Jonathan Turley of the George Washington University Law School and J.B and Maurice Shapiro Professor of Public Interest Law, was also given an honorary degree. The late Francis D. “Frank” Morrissey was honored posthumously. Mr. Morrissey was a Distinguished Visiting Professor at the law school for 12 years after his retirement from Baker & McKenzie.
