$1.85 Million Settlement for Death of Electrician

November 6, 2001

A $1,850,000 settlement was completed Tuesday afternoon on behalf of the family of a 33 year old electrician who was killed when she was crushed by a 3,000 pound power distribution unit during the renovation of the Apple Vacations building in Elk Grove Village on November 16, 1996.

The case of Hall v. Power Construction Company, 97 L 06693, was assigned to Judge Patricia Banks for trial when the settlement with the defendant, Power Construction Company, was reached. The other defendants, Apple Vacation West, Inc., Roediger Corporate Interior Planning, Inc., Environmental Systems Design, BSM Enterprises, Inc., and Maron Electric Company, had all agreed to settlements with the plaintiff last week.

Hall's family was represented by Shawn S. Kasserman and Daniel M. Kotin of Corboy & Demetrio.

Andrea Hall, 33 at the time of her death, was survived by her parents and eight adult siblings.

"This case was more than simply a large family which lost one spoke in a wheel," said Kotin, "we planned to present this case as ten separate people who each suffered a distinct, individual loss through Andrea's death."

Bill and Marianne Hall raised their children, including Andrea, in Berwyn. The have recently retired to Trevor, Wisconsin.
