Attorney Kotin Talks About Missing Vehicle Tracking Device in Taxi Crash Where Sudden Acceleration Claimed

November 2009

Dan Kotin, a partner and personal injury trial lawyer at Corboy & Demetrio, was featured on Fox News Chicago regarding the law firm's representation of Joyce Kilburg and her miraculous recovery from injuries she sustained when the taxi she was in slammed into a tree on north Sheridan Road in Chicago.

It is claimed that the crash was caused when the taxi suddenly accelerated and the brakes failed. However, a vital piece of evidence, the "Vehicle Tracking Device," which was attached to the taxi's engine and recorded the vehicle's every move, is no longer on the engine. Kotin calls it "the missing link," and will investigate its disappearance and other issues involved with the lawsuit.

When Joyce arrived in the emergency room at Illinois Masonic Hospital last month, doctors initially thought that she wouldn’t survive; last week she was taking her first steps. "I have never seen anything like it, in twenty five years," Dr. Richard Fantus of Advocate Illinois Medical Center said.
