Corboy & Demetrio Attorney Featured in Channel 2 Investigative Reports on Injuries at Medical Spas

12.2008

A personal injury lawyer at the Chicago law firm of Corboy & Demetrio was featured in two CBS Channel 2 investigative reports on the practices and procedures at medical spas.

Med Spa Patients Say Lasers Scarred, Burned Them

In the first report, "Med Spa Patients Say Lasers Scarred, Burned Them," Corboy & Demetrio's client talked about how she was injured when she was treated at a Chicago medical spa that she said "made it out to me like I was getting a facial." Evidence uncovered during Corboy & Demetrio's investigation showed that its client suffered second degree burns on her neck and chest when the machine operator changed the setting on the laser machine to its highest level during his client's final treatment. The burns have resulted in lifetime scarring.

Med Spa Industry Virtually Unregulated in Illinois

In the second installment of the investigative report, "Med Spa Industry Virtually Unregulated In Illinois," the Corboy & Demetrio attorney talked about how present Illinois rules and proposed new rules to regulate the med spa industry don't go far enough. "The regulations don't set forth any kind of standards as far as the training is concerned for the people who are actually going to be performing these procedures."
