Shawn Kasserman, Trial Attorney at Corboy & Demetrio, Featured Speaker at Litigation Skills Conference

Shawn Kasserman, a trial attorney and partner at the Chicago personal injury and medical malpractice law firm of Corboy & Demetrio, was a featured speaker at the Litigation Skills Conference produced for lawyers and sponsored by the Law Bulletin Publishing Company on Thursday, February 12 at the University Club of Chicago. During the seminar, Shawn discussed, from the perspective of a plaintiff’s lawyer, practical techniques and effective strategies for handling pre-trial conferences.

Chicago Personal Injury and Medical Malpractice Lawyer

Shawn has successfully tried cases involving medical malpractice, product liability, premises liability, transportation negligence, automobile negligence, municipal liability and contract disputes. In addition to his trial experience, he has handled many successful appeals both as an appellant and appellee and has successfully settled cases involving theories as diverse as toxic torts and defamation.

His success as a trial attorney has gained him recognition. Shawn was named to the list of the top 100 Super Lawyers® in Illinois and is the youngest of only 17 plaintiff’s personal injury attorneys on the list. He has also been named one of the top 5% of all Illinois attorneys by the Leading Lawyers Network and has achieved the highest rating in the Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory. In 2004, he was named to the Law Bulletin Publishing Company’s list of "40 Illinois Attorneys Under Forty to Watch," based on his career achievements, his quick rise in the field of personal injury law and his contributions to the community and the legal profession.

He is a frequent speaker and writer on issues relating to trial practice and strategy. In addition to the numerous articles he has written, he has authored Proper Parties, Amended Complaints and Relation Back Doctrine and was a contributing author of Jury Selection Strategy & Science, Third Edition.

He is a past Chair of the Young Lawyers Division of the Illinois State Bar Association, currently on the Board of Managers for the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association and a member of the American Association for Justice and the DuPage County Bar Association. He is very active in "Kids in Danger" and "Anchored for Safety," groups started by parents of children killed by defective products, with the goal of protecting others.

Mr. Kasserman graduated from DePaul University College of Law in 1990.
