Corboy & Demetrio Welcomes Its Newest Associate Matthew Jenkins
August 2008Corboy & Demetrio's recent hiring of its newest associate, Matthew T. Jenkins was reported in Chicago Lawyer, Evanston Review, Penn Gazette and Illinois State Bar Association's Bar News.
Jenkins graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 2004, concentrating his studies in Political Science, Philosophy and Economics, and playing and coaching varsity football. During his law school career at Chicago-Kent College of Law, where he received his Juris Doctorate degree in 2007, Matthew was recognized for both his academic achievements and commitment to public service. Indeed, his personal dedication to public service earned him the honor of being named a Public Service Law Initiative Scholar in 2005.
Before returning to Corboy & Demetrio, where he clerked while attending law school, Jenkins practiced plaintiffs’ civil rights law at Loevy & Loevy in Chicago. As an assistant trial attorney on a civil rights case, he was successful in obtaining a $4 million verdict for his client on his very first trial!
Jenkins will focus his practice on plaintiff’s personal injury and wrongful death litigation. He is licensed to practice law in Illinois, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois and the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Illinois.
He is an active member of the American Bar Association, the American Association for Justice, and the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association, where he currently serves as co-chair of its Civil Rights and Criminal Law Committee. Matthew is also a junior board member for the Center for Disability and Elder Law, a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and advancing the legal rights of low-income persons with disabilities and senior citizens in Cook County, Illinois.
Jenkins was born and raised in Evanston, Illinois and currently resides in Chicago.
