Attorney Jenkins Appointed to Young Professionals Board at Center for Disability & Elder Law
September 2008Matthew T. Jenkins' appointment to the Young Professionals Board at the Center for Disability & Elder Law (CDEL), a nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting and advancing the legal rights of low income persons with disabilities and senior citizens in Cook County, Illinois, was reported in the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin and Chicago Sun Times. Jenkins’ one-year term will begin on September 1, 2008.
As a Board member, Jenkins will be an ambassador for the Center in Chicago’s legal community, participate in recruiting volunteer attorneys, and assist with fundraising initiatives and activities.
"Following in the footsteps of my mentor, Tom Demetrio and his tremendous support and service to CDEL, I am honored to be appointed to the Board on such an important and necessary organization."
CDEL volunteer attorneys represent eligible clients in a broad range of civil legal matters, including landlord/tenant, guardianship, consumer fraud, wills and probate, government benefits and bankruptcy. The Center also offers single session clinics for clients. Presently, one clinic provides legal assistance in the preparation of Powers of Attorney and Living Wills and another gives financial advice on alternatives to bankruptcy.
