Multipurpose/Grill Lighter Causes Fire and Death
A three year-old was seriously injured and subsequently died after a fire was started in her home with a multi-purpose Scripto “Aim ‘n Flame” butane lighter. The lighter was designed and distributed without a safety design. The lighter did not have a safety device, which is now required and was required then on cigarette lighters. When this tragedy occurred, the Japanese company which designed the lighter had a patent for the safety device. The child’s mother and family are represented by Corboy & Demetrio in their lawsuits against the manufacturers of the lighter, the doctors, and hospital staff.
