Daniel S. Kirschner has been a Chicago personal injury and medical malpractice trial lawyer at the law firm of Corboy & Demetrio since 1998. A graduate of Chicago-Kent College of Law, he received the CALI Award for Excellence in the study of medical malpractice while a law student.

Mr. Kirschner represents plaintiffs in catastrophic personal injury and wrongful death litigation at the pretrial, trial and appellate levels in state and federal courts. His practice is concentrated in matters involving aviation disasters, trucking and highway collisions, railroad crossings and derailments, construction mishaps, premises liability, product liability, medical malpractice, motor vehicle negligence, school and governmental liability, public transportation, and toxic tort.

Dan has obtained over $60 million in verdicts and settlements for his clients. He obtained a $15.8 million verdict on behalf of a young woman seriously injured in a car crash; a $10 million settlement for a woman injured when she was hit by a car as she crossed the street; and a $5.25 million settlement for the estate of a flight attendant killed in a small plane crash.

Dan is an active member of many bar associations. He is a past Co-Chair of the Young Lawyers Committee of the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association and served as an investigator for the Chicago Bar Association’s Judicial Evaluation Committee. He has organized, moderated, and lectured at numerous continuing legal education seminars for practicing attorneys and is regularly called upon to judge moot court and trial advocacy competitions. Notably, Dan was featured on NBC, Channel 5 News, discussing Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) bus and train accident lawsuits and the legal notice required under Section 41 of the Metropolitan Transit Authority Act. He recently authored an article on the subject, “Navigating Section 41 Notice Requirement,” which was published in Trial Journal of the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association.

In 2003, Dan was named by the Law Bulletin Publishing Company, which publishes the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin and Chicago Lawyer magazine, to its list of the "40 Under 40 Attorneys to Watch in Illinois." At age 31, Kirschner was the youngest of the 40 recipients. That same year, he received the Young Alumnus Award from the Chicago-Kent Law School Association and he currently serves as President of the Chicago-Kent Alumni Board of Directors.

In 1999, the Illinois Supreme Court appointed Dan to a three-year term as a Commissioner on the Character and Fitness Committee of the Illinois Board of Admissions to the Bar, where he worked tirelessly toward preserving the integrity of the legal profession. His hard work and commitment to the practice was again recognized by the Court in 2002 when it appointed Kirschner to serve on the Illinois Supreme Court Rules Committee, where he continues to serve.

Dan also proudly serves as a member of the Leadership Board of the Abraham Lincoln Marovitz Lend-A-Hand Program, which provides much needed grant support to youth-oriented community service and mentor organizations throughout Chicago.

In 2005, Dan was presented with the President’s Award for Advocate of the Year by the American Cancer Society (ACS) for his advocacy efforts in support of the City of Chicago’s Comprehensive Indoor Clear Air Ordinance. A member of the Chicago Regional Board of ACS since 2004, he currently serves as Vice-Chair and is an Executive Board Member.
